Under The Rug

Two months ago, I was sitting in my living room reading a strange novel, when all of the sudden I heard a disturbance below the floor. I traveled to the basement to see what was making the noises. There was nothing. It house was still and silent. Again, I heard the noise, but now it was coming from the living room upstairs! I went up and found a bump underneath the rug. I stepped on it, thinking it was just the rug rising up, and it hissed at me. Let me repeat, The bump in the rug hissed at me and moved away! I freaked out and whacked it with the dusty old chair in the corner. I hit it and smashed it, and the bump disappeared. I thought it was the end. I peered underneath the rug, and saw nothing but some lint. I just went back to my strange book and relaxed.
I had forgotten all about my encounter with the unusual bump, until it reappeared when i was reading the sequel to the first strange book. Two months later and it happened again! Last time i was positive i got rid of it, killed it, destroyed it. But now, it’s back to get revenge on me. I looked under the rug and found a round ball with a devilish smile and round tennis-ball eyes. “Oh my!” I gasped in horror. It laughed a witch-like cackle and jump towards me, and latched onto my face! I fell backwards unto the floor, trying to pull the creature off of my face. He was scratching me and yelling in my ear awful things. The creature wasn’t happy with me at all.
I could tell it was getting tired because once it stopped, I pulled it away and held it with all my strength.
“What do you want from me?” I desperately asked.
“revenge” it cried
“Why? What did I do?” I asked kindly
“You killed my father, now I kill you”
It tried to leap onto my face again, but I held it tight in my grip.
“I didn’t know. I’m sorry” I whispered.
Once word “sorry” came out of my mouth it suddenly decreased in size, it’s eyes turning into specks and the shape melting away. It vanished in front of my eyes and i was left talking to my empty hands. “I forgive you” I heard in the distance, It was soft and quiet like a ghost. “Thank you” I called out to it, knowing that it was the creature I had just seen.
Every two months the bump reappears, but whenever I do notice it, I ignore it. Because I really don’t want a repeat from last time. I’m still recovering from the damage it did to me, but now i treat everyone better. I guess you would say, I learned from this terrifying experience little one. I just warn you now, be nice and don’t kill.
Now, I am just telling you this story, because I want you to learn something from it. If you every see a bump in the rug, Don’t kill it!! The creature living beneath might have a family and kids. Just let it go into another rug.  Because if you do end it’s life, one of their children will come for revenge and you’ll be the lint under the rug.
